Mercado Envíos Full vs. external fulfillment: which wins and when to combine them

If you sell seriously on Mercado Libre, the real question isn’t “Full or a 3PL?” but which part of your catalog goes to each side. Full converts better thanks to the badge and fast delivery, but it punishes slow-moving inventory and only ships Mercado Libre orders. A 3PL charges an operator rate with no rotation penalty and serves all your channels from a single inventory. For most multichannel sellers, the winning answer isn’t one or the other: it’s the hybrid strategy.

What is Mercado Envíos Full?

Full is Mercado Libre’s fulfillment program: you send your merchandise to their distribution centers and they store, pack and deliver every sale. In return, your listings carry the Full badge, deliver faster and show up in the filter many buyers use by default. That translates into conversion: the buyer trusts the lightning bolt and next-day delivery. So far, all upside.

Full’s fee structure (and where it punishes you)

Exact rates change and depend on size, weight and category, so instead of memorizing figures, understand the logic behind the charges:

  • Cost per unit sold: every piece Full picks and ships pays its fulfillment fee.
  • Storage: you pay for the space your inventory takes up in their centers.
  • Long-storage charge: inventory that doesn’t turn over within the platform’s window pays extras that grow over time. It’s a direct penalty on slow rotation.
  • Removals and returns: pulling merchandise out of Full or processing reverse logistics also has a cost and a waiting time.
  • Inbound requirements: labeling, packaging and appointments to check merchandise in; arrive unprepared and you get rejections and rework.

The structural limit: Full only serves Mercado Libre

The inventory you put into Full can only ship Mercado Libre sales. If you also sell on Amazon, your own store or social channels, that stock is useless for those orders: you either duplicate inventory —capital tied up twice— or leave channels underserved. The more channels you have, the more expensive that lock-in becomes.

When does Full make sense, and when does a 3PL?

In short:

  • Full makes sense for high-rotation SKUs that live on Mercado Libre: the badge pays for itself in conversion and inventory moves out before triggering long-storage charges.
  • A 3PL makes sense for the long tail, medium or low rotation, and everything you sell outside Mercado Libre: you pay an operator rate with no rotation penalty and ship every channel from one inventory.
  • Full alone doesn’t make sense when your catalog is wide with mixed rotation: long-storage charges eat the margin of the catalog’s tail.

The hybrid strategy: best-sellers in Full, everything else at the 3PL

This is how sellers who already went through the pain run it: they identify the handful of SKUs that concentrate most of their Mercado Libre sales and only those go to Full, in quantities that rotate fast. The rest of the catalog lives at the 3PL, which ships your remaining Mercado Libre orders and every other channel from a single inventory. The operator also preps and replenishes Full: labels, books the appointments and sends only what will actually rotate. Full stops being your warehouse and becomes what it really is: a conversion accelerator for your star products.

How do you decide which SKU goes where?

A simple rule, by rotation:

  • SKU that sells every day on Mercado Libre → Full, with frequent replenishment.
  • Medium-rotation or seasonal SKU → 3PL, and consider moving it into Full only for peak season.
  • Low-rotation or long-tail SKU → 3PL always; in Full it would only pile up charges.
  • Bulky or special-handling product → quote both; storage weighs anywhere, but the slow-rotation penalty hits harder in Full.
  • Everything you sell outside Mercado Libre → 3PL, from the same inventory.

The next step: real numbers, not faith

The right mix depends on your catalog, your actual rotation and your channels; there’s no universal recipe. If you already sell on Mercado Libre and are weighing Full, a 3PL or the hybrid, request a free operational diagnosis: with your sales and SKU-level rotation, you define what belongs in Full and what a 3PL should run.
